Spring Make-up Trends

Spring Make-up Trends

Spring has finally sprung in all of its gloriousness and here at The Vintage Cosmetic Company we’re super excited to see that spring make-up trends this year hark back to iconic colours and make-up techniques…

1950’s Soft Shades: Pastel shadows have made a comeback this spring and they’re being sported in an array of colours from an iconic mint green to soft hues of rose petal pink and even peachy orange fun. Make-up artist from Robin Black advises on allure.com to blend one shade across your entire lid up to the brow bone for a modern twist these vintage inspired beauties.

Art Deco Esque Winged Liner: Although we attribute winged eyeliner look back to the glamour of old Hollywood in the 1950s, winged eyeliner has been popular since the 1920s. Instead of creating the famous cat-eye wing this spring think Great Gatsby and experiment with liner that’s a little more angular to reflect the shapes so often seen in Art Deco architecture. For a fun and modern take try using coloured liners in cobalt blue and bright yellow for a cheeky, fresher look!

Flushed Cheeks: Rosy cheeks are back (although we’re not sure they ever left!) this season create a natural look using blushers in soft rosy pinks and peachy tones – for added spring sparkle use something shimmery that will stand out in the light and accentuate the contours of your face.

Adding a modern twist – dark lipsticks in bold hues: While your blushers and shadow shades will be as delicate as a cherry blossom flower, try something bolder for your lip. We suggest dark, seductive hues of cherry reds and deep purples to keep your look modern and fresh.

This spring less is more – try something lighter, more natural and softer – and remember, a little bit of shimmer never hurt anyone!
